Tuscany Bike Tour

Yesterday was our first full day in Florence. Anna looked up a great bike tour for us to do on our first day here. Anna, Rosa and I woke up early and started our "15" minute walk to the bike tour place. You know how things usually go for us so of course after walking and taking detours for 30 minutes we finally knew where we were going. We had to run down to the bike shop because we were 5 minutes late. We finally made it and said we had our morning warm up. When we arrived we saw our professors Lidia and Dr. Rosado waiting for us. We signed up and payed for our bike tour. We first took a 30 minute bus tour up to a castle. Rosa and I got to ride in the front of the bus because they did not want us to get car sick. When we reached our destination we found ourselves surrounded by vineyards and olive trees. The view was spectacular. They took us on a tour of the winery and also where they make olive oil. When we reached the top of the castle they had wine, bread, olive oil and a special pastry for us. Afterwards we all were fitted for our bikes and helmets. Each bike had a name, my bikes name was "Yo Mama". We all had a good laugh reading everyones name. We were all geared up and ready to go. We started off the tour through some good and even roads. Then the roads started to have hills and it really got hard to go up those hills. In the middle of the tour we had lunch at a very nice restaurant. I ordered a spick spaghetti with a salad and gellato for desert.  After lunch we hopped back on our bikes. At one point it hurt so bad but Rosa kept motivating me to keep going. At one point of the tour a van pulled up and asked us if we wanted to continue because we were reaching a very steep incline. My friends and I decided to take the bus up the hill. We saw the people that attempted the hill but in the end they either walked the rest of the way up or asked for a ride. We got back on our bikes for the last leg of the tour. My favorite part was the very end of the tour. It was a steep decline and rows of bushes and trees surrounding me. The castle was straight ahead and I was going at full speed down the hill. I am so happy Anna looked up this tour for us. I really had an amazing time. Pictures can not even begin to show you the real beauty we experienced and saw on this bike tour of Tuscany's vineyards. Afterwards the girls and I had a nap and then got ready to have a nice italian dinner. After dinner we sat outside in front of the plaza outside of our hotel. We had a nice time just sitting outside in the nice cool breeze. A good ending to a hard workout of a day.
